Hi, my name is Victoria Strader and I’m a mother of four and longtime Classic Whimsy mama. Although I felt confident starting out in my motherhood journey almost nine years ago, with each child I’ve grown more secure in my decisions as a mother, especially the decisions made in the early days of bringing home baby. My newborn must haves list has become more intentionally curated and for welcoming my youngest son this Spring, I fell in love with some staples. Please allow me to take a second and pass along my list of newborn must haves featuring some of my favorites from Classic Whimsy!
Sleep sack - I’m so grateful to have had a CW sleep sack waiting in the drawer for transitioning from the swaddle. Feeling ready for this switch always seems to happen suddenly and the CW sleep sack helped make this change as smooth as possible. It’s cozy, adjustable, and a great weight for all seasons and for giving baby a bit of weight on their chest for comfort.
Sound machine - For our home, a sound machine helps baby sleep while siblings giggle and play. All of our newborns have enjoyed sleeping with a sound machine and we’ve weaned off of it with different age preferences for each child.
Boppy Pillow - A multipurpose product reigns supreme! This pillow can be used for support while nursing, rest for arms if just cuddling baby or feeding a bottle.. we use to help siblings easily hold their new addition in the early days. I always get a fresh cover for each baby.
Burp Cloths (with a monogram of course!)- For each new addition I like to get fresh newborn linens, including burp cloths. It’s especially sweet to get embroidered with baby’s name or initials, something unique to your new addition. It always feels so special to see something done especially for baby, and you can never have enough burp cloths! While holding your new addition at church, a party, or at a school event for another child, the cute monogram hanging over your shoulder serves as the perfect accessory.
Diapering Pouch - A mom of multiple children is always on the go and one method I’ve really refined over the years is the diapering pouch. Always personalized for baby (Classic Whimsy’s in house embroidery team is top notch!) the pouch can easily hold diapers, wipes, a spare outfit, and one of the previously mentioned burp cloths. I toss this in my big mom bag, the center console of my car, or the wagon headed out to the soccer field. It’s one of those preparations that always has you thanking your former self!
Toiletry kit - Speaking of the pouch, somehow tiny baby nail clippers and the syringe for tiny noses always grow legs and walk away. I try to get a set of these things and keep in the home base of our diapering pouch.
